If you've reached this page, then Scholars, welcome to English! My name is Mrs. Urry and I teach 9th grade English at Heritage Academy in Laveen.
I am a California native and graduated from high school in Roseville, a suburb of Sacramento. I graduated with a BA in English Education and a French Education minor from Brigham Young University Idaho. I taught in Mesa Public Schools and worked for a year in business writing articles and leading marketing for an international company. I spent a lot of time serving on the Indian Reservations in New Mexico and Northern Arizona teaching and serving the people there and am happy to be here in the Phoenix area close to those I grew to love.
I love reading, writing, traveling, running, and teaching! You may find me running the trails of South Mountain after school or sitting around campus reading a good classic. I have lived in the Phoenix valley for about two years and live in the Chandler area right now. I understand life is to be enjoyed, so I expect us all to have fun with our friends and family on weekends and evenings. However, I believe good fun comes about because of hard work, so be prepared to enjoy life because of performing hard work.
Because I grew up with a father in the Navy, I developed a passion for this country and everything it was founded on. In college I took a special course on the American Authors and feel a deep connection to the authors of our country.
I strongly believe every child will succeed and look forward to our year together.
